Fresh Lemon Water

Fresh lemon water in the morning is a great way to detox the body. It has tons of vitamin C and can help with fat loss by breaking down adipose tissue.

Stevia VS. Sugar

Ok so we all know that sugar (especially refined) is unhealthy and should be avoided when possible. Did you also know that if you cut out refined sugar you can lose fat cells?  One of the ways to incorporate a healthier sugar that may actually have health benefits.

"Stevia is an herbal sweetener derived from a South American plant. Besides its sweetness, studies have shown that stevia may also have anti-inflammatory properties. It can help regulate your immune system. " (Heal your whole body by Frances Murchison, HHC, AADP)

One of my biggest sugar issues was that I love lemonade and most brands have a lot of refined white sugar in them. I have since found a new lemonade to love. It's called True Lemon and it has 100% natural ingredients, as well as stevia (sugar 1g) so it makes a big difference, oh and it's only 10 calories!

P.S Truvia is the brand of Stevia I have tried.

Either way doing stuff like this can cut down on your refined sugar intake. Just make sure if you bake with stevia you do a little research as it is heavily concentrated and you could easily use too much.

Better Sleep

Did you know that if you DO NOT get adequate sleep your likely to gain weight, or at the very least you will have trouble losing weight? Your body requires more fuel when you are fatigued and it uses up more energy just to stay awake. So, you end up eating more to fuel your tired body, your metabolism slows down and this can cause a weight gain, among other things.

I am currently working on getting into a better routine myself. Try to get at least 7-8 hours of sleep each night and you will feel the difference!

Dry Skin

Dry skin is also something that people tend to suffer from during the Winter & start of Spring.

Consuming foods with oils like olive oil, flax seed and salmon can help keep the skin cells hydrated. Something to consider during the colder weather.

Back on track

Ok so now that Spring is right around the corner it's time to start getting back on track!  How do we shed those unwanted extra pounds? Well for starters eating right should come first.

Your weight is made up of a combination of 60-70% food consumption and 30-40% exercise. The image states 80/20 but I would lean more towards the percentages I have listed.

What that means is that if you eat right and watch your portion sizes you can lose weight just by changing around your diet. After incorporating exercise you should see a healthy difference.

Poor posture

This tip is especially helpful for those of you that work in an office and have to be sitting for prolonged periods of time.
First off you want to make sure that you are sitting up with your back pressed up against the back of the chair. Your keyboard should be at lap or slightly higher (level). Your monitor should be at eye level or slightly below but you should not be looking up at it as this can place stress on your lower head/neck area....

Finally you should take breaks as often as possible and walk around a bit. Also, try and look away from your monitor every once in a while. Looking off in the distance can help re-focus your eyes and ease any added stress to them from staring at a computer screen all day.
